VIERA WEST, Fla. — Lawrence Technological University softball earned a doubleheader sweep Tuesday at the Space Coast Complex, defeating Bloomfield College 8-0 in six innings before rallying past Clarke University 6-5 in game two.
In the opener, the Blue Devils used a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching to secure the run-rule victory. Lauren Miller led the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a triple, double, two RBIs and a run scored as LTU collected 13 hits. Alyssa Bloomfield and Jacqui LeBlanc each drove in two runs as well. Sydney Mayer earned the win in the circle, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three before Mikayla Timm finished the combined three-hit shutout.
Game two was a back-and-forth battle that was decided in the final inning. Trailing 5-4 in the seventh, Delaney Monroe opened the frame with a single before Ashley Stafford tied the game with an RBI triple. Moments later, Alyssa Bloomfield delivered the walk-off single to score Stafford and secure the comeback victory.
Stafford finished with two RBIs, while Sophia Propps added an RBI double earlier in the game. Sarah Basket pitched a complete game for the Blue Devils, allowing five runs and striking out five while keeping LTU within striking distance before the late rally.
With the sweep, the Blue Devils showcased timely hitting and strong pitching as they continued their spring break schedule in Florida.
