HILTON HEAD - Lawrence Tech's Blue Devils Tennis turned in a dominant day in Hilton Head, sweeping Georgetown College on both the men's and women's side on Sunday. The men earned a 5-2 victory, while the women completed a 7-0 shutout, highlighted by strong doubles play and straight-set wins in key singles positions.
On the men's side, Lawrence Tech set the tone with two tight but decisive doubles wins. The pairing of Augustin Patte and Cael Guthrie came through in a crucial spot, grinding out a 7-5 win to help secure the early doubles edge. The team of Carlos Patricio and Takuya King added to that momentum with a 6-3 victory, giving the Blue Devils a strong foundation heading into singles.
That early success translated into singles, where Patte and Patricio both delivered straight-set wins to clinch the team result. Patte posted a 6-3, 6-4 decision, using consistent baseline play to close out his match in two sets. Patricio was even more decisive, rolling to a 6-1, 6-2 win to put another point on the board and help lock up the 5-2 final for the men.

The Lawrence Tech women were even more commanding, sweeping all seven points behind dominant efforts in both doubles and singles. In doubles, the team of Jackie Alcocer and Miriam McCarmick controlled play throughout a 6-1 win, while the tandem of Isabella Aray and Taylor Moore did not drop a game in a 6-0 victory. The convincing results at the top of the lineup quickly put Georgetown College under pressure.
Moore carried that momentum into singles with one of the most lopsided performances of the day, winning 6-0, 6-0 without surrendering a game. Alcocer added another emphatic result, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 singles win as the Blue Devils continued to build on their lead. With those victories setting the tone, the remaining matches followed suit to complete the women's 7-0 sweep.
The double sweep in Hilton Head caps a highly successful outing for Lawrence Tech, which showcased depth and balance across both lineups. Between clutch doubles performances from pairings like Patte–Guthrie and Alcocer–McCarmick, and dominant singles displays from Patricio and Moore, the Blue Devils left South Carolina with momentum and confidence heading into the remainder of their spring schedule.
